Our History
1973-75
Ganesh Agencies as a Sole Proprietorship was established primarily dealing
in Parrys Sweets and Topaz razor blades. A. Sevaguru, the founder was Malaysia's
very first distributor of both brands. Having born in a family of nine children,
Mr. Sevaguru had a very simple beginning having been taught business by
his father who dealt in News papers and groceries.
Apart from its core activities of dealing in sweets and razor blades, Mr
Sevaguru had a very keen interest in Tour operations. He gathered a group
of people, primarily friends and family members, in his very first experimental
tour of 25 days Tour of South India in 1973.
By the end of 1975, Mr. Sevaguru had already operated three tours of South
India successfully. During this time the travel division of Ganesh Agencies
was in touch with a local travel company in Kuala Lumpur for Air ticketing.
1975- 1982
Mr. Sevaguru capitalized on much of his Tour arrangement experience which
he did in his spare time in early 70s and confidently established the travel
business. Ganesh Agencies became Ganesh Travel Agencies. Its core business
moved completely to Travel primarily focusing in Tours to India and Air
Ticketing.
During this period, Ganesh Travel Agencies grew from strength to strength
dealing with several reputed airlines in the world and a very good client
base. It was also during this time Ganesh Travel Agencies became the official
travel agent for many national and international companies.
By the end of 1982, Ganesh Travel Agencies had accumulated several awards
from Malaysia Airlines, Air Lanka (now known as Sri Lankan Airlines), Air
India and also the very first Government of Tamil Nadu's Overseas Tour Operator
Award presented by the late Chief Minister of the State Dr M.G. Ramachandran.
1982- till date
The road to professionalism became evident in the firm's legal existence.
Ganesh Travel Agencies was incorporated as a "Sdn Bhd" (Pvt. Ltd)
